Quintuple Mindedness in Decorating

How do you successfully marry all these styles to live in perfect harmony in one little home?

I’d like to know.

Do you have a different theme in each room?

I have a feeling it wouldn’t look to good in a semi-open floor design.  And how do you pick which room to do what?

Do you buy different homes and decorate each one in the style you like?

Yes… that would be awesome but I KNOW I don’t have the money for that!

Do you rotate each year and have a different theme each time?

I’m thinking you would have to get new cabinets, furniture and flooring each time… can’t do that… not practical.

Do you go with the style of your home?

I’d have to say mine is traditional.

Do you pick one and forget the others?

I don’t think I can choose.

I LOVE THEM ALL!

And I don’t want to live with just one style.

I want to live in them all!!  :)

Is it greedy to want them all?  Don’t answer that… LOL!

I just can’t figure how to have it all in ONE house.

Apparently… I’m a little bit seaside cottage, urban farmhouse, rustic mountain cabin, contemporary modern, and traditional and I don’t know which one I like the best…

It’s better to be single minded than double minded and here I am quintuple minded!

Maybe I do have to pic just one style.

But… how do you settle on just ONE?

I’d like to know.

Can anyone who loves decorating relate?

  1. I can relate! I love all the decor styles you suggested as well. It's hard because I don't want to stick to just one style. So I guess I'm going to have to be eclectic and creative to combine all the things I love. :)

  3. I had a hard time deciding how to decorate my new place and I was going to try and go for the same look throughout because I guess there is some rule that that's what you are supposed to do, but then I realized it's MY space and I can do what I want! So the parts that are open to each other (kitchen, dining room, living room) are natural rustic. Bathroom is sorta French. Bedroom is bechy cottage. Do what makes YOU happy, as long as the open spaces are tied in together.

  4. I agree with the above comments 100%! Plus paint is probably the greatest asset to anyone who switches things up as much as we do! :)

  6. Oh yes, I can relate. I guess we just have to create our own style, everything in general, nothing in particular. I say, if it looks good, it fits - worry about what to call it later - lol.
