Funky Junk Interior’s Colour Challenge

Ok Donna… you asked for colour… here it goes!

About a year ago I had this old but cheapo piece of furniture which was either doomed for the garage or the trash.

But I needed some extra storage for linens and maybe a dog leash or two…

Now… at the time I was really into color…

I actually was painting some very colorful folk art paintings and selling them online.

A definite color phase in my life.

So… I decided to do a funky, colorful and eclectic piece.

I stripped it, repainted it and put it in the dining room.

It has since been moved around since I painted my dining room bone white.

Aww… but look at the red candle… I’m still working in this room and I believe you will see a splash of color on the walls here soon!

Ok… back to the furniture piece…

I’ve had some friends tell me it looks like a piece from Pier One.  Wow!

Here it is filling in an empty corner space.

I like it here because it adds a splash of color to this ignored, dark corner and catches your attention/eye back there.

Oh… and look to your right… my old farm table bench with another splash of color…

I have alot of red/maroon color accented in my home.

Now..I gotta say…

I have fallen in LOVE with all white themes since I’ve been blogging.  And I also LOVE the color of old grayish/brownish, natural tones against a white palette (like you see in Donna’s house)…

And I’m slowly incorporating those styles into my home…

but for now I have a ton of color “splashes” in my decor and it still brings me joy… so I keep it around!

Thanks Donna for the Colour Challenge… hope this fits into that theme! Congratulations on 3000 followers!

  2. It does look like a Pier One piece! It's really cool and I love it on the white/cream wall, because it is stand alone piece. In a more colorful, cluttered room, it might be too much, but here it looks wonderful!

  3. I like that it is a one of a kind piece and the way the undercolor streaks through adding a touch of interest.
But your farm table bench has me inspired. (Shape, not color. Nothing stays white around here.)

  6. Wowzer! It is Pier One! I love it and if I didn't live in a (boring) male-dominant household, I'd do something bold like that too. Awesome!
