Christmas Mantel 2017

I finally got the tree up and the mantel decorated!

I kept my cabin theme from this year’s Fall’s Cozy Cabin Mantel

and went right into decorating the cabin for a wintery mountain scene!

This is my Cabin In The Woods Christmas Mantel 2017…

I love the greenery with this mantel

and how it really does make it look like a cabin in the woods!

One of my fav things is the antique stoneware crock!

And to go with my woodsy theme…

my tree has rustic, plaid, and cabin-y type ornaments on it!

I also used the old trusty outdoor tub for my tree base.

WELL…

it definitely feels like a Tender Tennessee, Woodsy, Rustic, Mountainy Christmas around here!!

Thanks for stopping by to check out my Christmas Mantel this year!!

My New Old White Farm Table Bench

OK…

It’s Finished!

If you read my blog… then you know I have been working on this old farm table.

You saw last week when it sadly went under construction…

and

we all cried… or at least I did.

But it had to be done because this is what I needed.

An Old Farm Table Bench!

It’s the perfect big, hefty, rough, worn, naturally distressed bench for my foyer/entry way!

I love it!

I haven’t added any decor around it… YET!

My sweet hubby just got through painting and it’s a mess around my house.  He painted the dining room and the entry way “Bone White”.

But… I did play around with some pillows.

I have lots of this rusty red color accented through out my living room (which is open to the entry way), so I believe these pillows will fit right in!

So what am I working on now you ask?

Or… well… maybe you didn’t…

But I’m going to tell you anyway… Ha!

I’m working on what’s going to hang above the bench… I had to go out to the burn pile for this one…

Stay Tuned!

Oh My… all I can say is WOW!

You may have already seen this… but when I stumbled upon it my jaw hit the ground!

I wanted to share this with you because I found it so inspirational as I am currently working on my white back porch!

This savvy, creative lady… Sandra Foster…

NYT2010061716234976C

transformed a small hunting cabin on her farm into this adorable Victorian Cottage!

If you like shabby chic… then this is definitely for you!

Ms. Foster created (I mean completely transformed) her “refuge”  by shopping salvage stores and flea markets.

The New York Times did a feature write up on her cottage… you can find it here.

The article is called

In the Catskills, Comfort in a Gingerbread House

The article only had a few pics online that I could copy/paste to show you …

but here is the link to more photos by Trevor Tondro.

I love her story!

And I am still drooling over her cottage.

Sandra Foster also has a blog…

My Shabby Streamside Studio

Here you can see more photos of the cottage and her journey as she decorates her gorgeous refuge!

LOVE IT!!
