Christmas Mantel 2015… Immanuel

The First Noel, the Angels did say
Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay
In fields where they lay keeping their sheep
On a cold winter's night that was so deep.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

ca immanuel

They looked up and saw a star
Shining in the East beyond them far
And to the earth it gave great light
And so it continued both day and night.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

And by the light of that same star
Three Wise men came from country far
To seek for a King was their intent
And to follow the star wherever it went.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

This star drew nigh to the northwest
O'er Bethlehem it took its rest
And there it did both stop and stay
Right o'er the place where Jesus lay.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel
Born is the King of Israel!

Then entered in those Wise men three
Full reverently upon their knee
And offered there in His presence
Their gold and myrrh and frankincense.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel

Born is the King Of Israel!

This is my ‘Immanuel Mantel’ for Christmas 2015!

I know Jesus wasn’t born in a wood pallet barn,

but it was all I had to create the illusion of shelter!

I added creek rock to give it a more rock like appearance.

And baby Jesus?

I used my very first baby doll from when I was a little girl

to be baby Jesus!

To read of the precious birth of Jesus… see Luke 1 & 2!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Wishing Everyone

Merry Christmas!

Update: New Booth, New Fur Babies

This year has been a busy one!

Lots of new beginnings.

My blog has been dormant for awhile because I have been busy painting and selling!

KJoyner Art Booth

I moved into a new booth.

It’s been so fun planning for it, creating for it, and setting it up!

art booth

However, I have had no time to create something fun for my blog…

not even one of my seasonal mantels.  :(

I did get a recent feature over at for one of my Christmas Mantels!

Mantel 2012

I always love receiving those emails!!

My Pinterest and Instagram continue to grow (thank you) but I honestly haven’t even posted to those in a long while!

I have been active on my Art Facebook page… so definitely come over and check it out if you want!  It is slowly growing and I appreciate everyone who has liked it and likes my work!

And last… but not least…

There were two new additions to the family this year!

mia collage

This is Mia… she came to us from the woods behind our house.

Art Buddy

Poor girl was emaciated and so hungry.  She ran to us desperately wanting food and wanting inside…

let’s just say… the rest is history!

And then…

there was a trip to PetSmart soon after where we met this one…

Chloe collage

We named her Chloe.

They are both young and keep us wildly entertained!

And what is even better… they are the best of friends!

Or should I say sisters?! Winking smile

So… lots of changes but all good!

I’m hoping to possibly set up an online shop for my paintings, I just haven’t figured out which site I want to use.

Other than that… the rest of the year will be about family and holiday activity!

And… maybe a new Christmas Mantel post?!

Have a great rest of the week everyone!

Lots Of Projects Going On!

I’ve been M.I.A. on the blog… again… sorry!

If you’ve read some of my recent posts… I moved into a booth at a local artisan and pickers mall called Vinterest Antiques!

KJoyner Art Booth Creative Ambitions

And because of that… it has actually been a “construction zone” in my house and it has kept me busy!

Creative Ambitions Blog

I have a place I call my studio art room.  But it’s kind of isolated from the rest of the house.  Sooo… I tend to spread out into the kitchen where all the action is.  And then… when spring hit this year… I also took some of my projects to the back deck to enjoy the weather while I work!  Basically my stuff is sprawled out all over the place!

Creative Ambitions

But… I’m having fun!

I share my booth with 2 other ladies and we are still working out the kinks of being in such a small space.

Kjoyner Art Creative Ambitions Booth

I have future plans for how I want it to look…

I ordered an art sign off the internet for my booth… but couldn’t find a frame to fit… or one that I even liked.

So you know me… I made my own!

KJoyner Art Creative Ambitions Cardboard Frame

All it took was some scrap heavy (two layer) cardboard, razor knife for cutting, combo of joint compound and modeling paste, stencil and paint!  I  made up my own scalloped design, measured accordingly, drew it out (basically winging it) and then cut it out.  I covered it with a very light coat of joint compound… if too heavy it will wet the cardboard and peel it.  I added the raised detail with a stencil and modeling paste… and then painted it.

I mean… I could do some more to it to make it look even more like a real frame… but it’s going to be hanging up high so you would not be able to tell at a distance!

Can’t wait to get settled and be able to hang my sign… make my space my own.

Another project I’m working on to sell are paper mache angel wings!

 Creative Ambitions Angel Wings

A messy project but fun at the same time.

I’m in the experimental stage with these… trying to find what material is best to make these with and what shapes to use.

As for my art… it has been selling!  It is so good to paint and sell again!

If you would like to follow along my art journey this is my new Facebook Page for my art…

Kendra Joyner Art

I actually walked into a small town café the other day and saw my art hanging on the walls!

That was awesome!

Recently, I took an online e-course from Artist Flora Bowley!

Here are some paintings of mine since I took the class…

Art by KJoyner

KJoyner Art

I have been mixing my older whimsy style of painting with my intuitive new style of painting at the booth!

Barnyard collection

KJoyner Art

Right now, we are doing a farm theme… so I had to paint some cute barnyard animals to go along with that!

Another personal project…

Creatiev Ambitions Outdoor Drop Cloth Curtains

drop cloth curtains for the back deck!

Creative Ambitions Drop Cloth Outdoor Curtain

We will see how long they hold up!

I love them… perfect for a little privacy or shade!

So that’s what I’ve been up to!

It’s been challenging trying to get the booth situated and my art selling but I’m making progress… sometimes it takes a lot of hard work and a lot of patience to build a business and a brand.  I feel like once all the physical space is finally situated and I have my art set up like I truly want… then I can concentrate on a new website.

So hang in there with me…

it’s going to be a busy year and I will keep you posted on how things are going!!

We Got Into Vinterest Antiques!!

Good news everyone… we got in!!

So excited to be part of

Vinterest Antiques!!

Our application (my last post) got accepted and we are proud  booth vendors at Vinterest!

The owners said that my application was the best one they had ever seen!!

Made me feel so good

especially since it took me like 3 days to get it all together, take pics, edit and post!  Ha!

Let’s just say… we REALLY wanted a chance in this new venue!

We just moved in this past Sunday and are still working on our booth…

The hubbies just installed some 2x4’s for our hanging rafters and a fascia board.

Planning to get it painted and prepped for business this weekend!

I’ll share photos of our booth when we are finished…

but until then…

Vinterest Antiques

let me show you just how WONDERFULLY, YUMMY this place is!

Creative Ambitions Photo

I don’t have pics of every booth but these photos will at least give you a taste of the what the store is all about!

I’ll try to post more photos in another post when we get ours ready to show!

Every booth has some kind of theme or color scheme!

(Love the flower pots on this one!)

The vendors go all out to create an awesome atmosphere for the customers!  If you are ever in Hixson, TN… you need to stop by this place…

just to experience it!

(LOVE the rusty awning!!)

Creative Ambitions Photos

One fun aspect is that the owners Paul and Katherine named the aisle ways with names like “Pickers Pike” and “Vintage Row”…

love that!!

I gotta say… Vinterest is the talk of the town these days!  And this place has been boomin’ with business since it opened in January…

and let me tell ya folks… as far as business in the retail world… for the first couple of months of the year…

that’s REALLY good!!

I also love the people here… owners, staff and vendors!  Everyone we’ve met has welcomed us with open arms and we so appreciate it!!

(and to them I promise we will get our booth looking spiffy soon!! Smile)

We are just so honored to be in such a well thought out, beautiful place!

Every inch of selling space is accounted for… I love that!

The booths are always changing and evolving… so you will get a new experience each time you walk in!

The owners also have plans in the near future for an outdoor market!

They have space outside the building that will be lined with covered booths and tents… for some weekend fun and shopping!

I don’t have pics of all the wonderful spaces in this mall… but I’m sure from the photos you can get a good idea of what it’s like!

Again… if you are ever in town… stop by the store and check ‘em out!

To follow them on facebook… click on their name below…

I am so excited to be part of this new adventure…

such a joy and blessing!!

(Hope me and the girls do well there!!)

Photos coming soon of our booth…
