  4. We are running over to Branson, Missouri for a week. Lots of stuff to do. Close to home. We usu. go to Chicago to visit relatives and hang out at their lake house, but 10 hour drive just didn't sound fun this year. Would love to go to Santa Fe again.

My vacation is this week, and I'm staying home to work on building an outdoor kitchen for my hubby. It's not going as well as I would have liked though.

I went home to Florida.. the Gulf Coast..Panama City to be exact. I am a native Floridian, born and raised in Pensacola.
The beach has always been an important part of my life..as a kid, frolicking there was simply the summery thing to do. It offered free entertainment for families..fishing at night, camping under the stars.. the same held true as a young newlywed, and later as a mom..the beach was there..always has been..it was a place where I cried for heartbreaks..or rejoiced at joys in my life..I've watched many sunrises and sunsets from there..the beach is my soul..
when the oil spill occurred on April 20, I knew in my heart, my life would forever be changed..for 60+ years I have known nothing but pristine emerald waters and sugary white sands,,Even when hurricanes ravaged the coast, eventually nature took it's course and vegetation returned..but with this oil creeping ever closer, I knew the coast would never return to normal..environmentally or economically..not in my lifetime if ever.
my trip was to visit the beach one last time, before the oil actually started coming ashore;.. to drink in the fresh clean salt air..immerse my body in the emerald waters..and say a prayer of thanks for having been allowed all those years of pure enjoyment of such a pristine paradise..I made photos..so many for my memory books while imprinting the very essence of beachyness in my mind and soul..I close my eyes and remember.. while Barbara sings "The Way We Were"..
