Winter Mantel 2018

I love creating seasonal mantels.

Winter gives me a chance to come up with natural, #rustic tones for my living room #mantel.

With this year’s winter mantel decor…

I used items such as a shipping crate panel, a woven placemat…

a bushel basket lid, a mixed media art piece I’ve been working on…

and I made these cute little berry branch trees.

And of course, I had to add outdoor elements such as the pine cones and cut wood!

I also added some winter wheat and berries to an old milking bucket along side an antique crock.

All those elements created lots of yummy texture that I love!!

Thanks for stopping by and hope everyone stays warm this winter…

it’s been a cold one!

Winter Mantel 2014

Happy New Year Everyone!

That means the Christmas décor is gone and my Winter Mantel is up!

This year’s mantel was created with a few thrift store finds…

along with some things I already had… which makes for some very

inexpensive décor.

Shipping Crate Desk Along Side My Winter Mantel… Very Cozy!

OK… this is my second post of the day!  (not normal for me…lol)

In my last post… I showed you my new shipping crate desk I built.

Well… it rained everyday as I worked on this thing… for like 9 days or so straight.

No SUN!

So… what did I do to help with my cabin fever when I got through building?

Well…

I rearranged the ol’ furniture and stylized a little bit!  FUN!

Natural, Textured, Artsy, Rustic Winter Mantel 2013

Is that title loaded or what?? LOL!

Anywho… I finally finished my winter mantel!  Yay!

I was in the process of working on it when my neighbor called me up about a week ago and asked me if I wanted a big shipping crate.

Of course, I said yes and started devoting all my time to it (post coming soon)… Soooo, I had to put the mantel on hold.

But… finally… I got back on track and finished it up.

I love this mantel display because I actually had to create some art for it…

which is always fun to do!!

So… here is my Natural, Textured, Artsy, Rustic Winter Mantel!

Let’s start with the woven art I created for my display…

Rustic Winter Mantel

I finally got the Christmas decorations put away!

How about you?

I usually DON’T decorate my mantel… EXCEPT for Christmas.

And normally…after Christmas…

I stick this huge single canvas painting up there until next Christmas.

BUT THIS YEAR…

I decided to have a little RUSTIC FUN with my mantel!

It took me a couple of tries to get it where I wanted it.

This was my FIRST attempt:

BUT… NOPE…

it didn’t sit well with me.

Maybe a little too country?  I don’t know.

((Soooo))

Here’s the second attempt for my Rustic Winter Mantel…

((with a little living room staging involved!))

Recognize the Game Board?

(I borrowed the table top from my old crate table)

I love texture…

so I tried to create texture in my display by combining

woven placemats, old & new metal, old wood, twine and winter wheat.

So… now for a little staging fun…

005blog

This is a more of a simple look… I like it!

BUT…

I had to have a LITTLE more fun in my “play time”

by adding a few pieces!

My cat has the right idea here!

Yeah… I could see myself cozying up to the fire with a

hot cup of coffee, a snuggly blanket and a good book!!

(SIGH)

So much fun to play around with décor… isn’t it?!! Smile

Well Folks…

there we have it…

My Rustic Winter Mantel.

Thanks for Stopping By!!

Hope everyone had a safe New Years and will be greatly blessed in 2012!!

Now go get warm… it’s cold outside!!
