My Version of a Photo Ladder

Back in the spring… my gracious neighbor gave me these

nice tree branches.

Well… they sat on the back porch for awhile as I contemplated what to use them for.

So back in the summer… when it was like 100 degrees I finally decided to build this.

 

Basically, my hubs cut the pieces I needed and I nailed it together.

IT IS PURELY A DECORATIVE PIECE.

so…

WARNING:

No climbing on this ladder!

After I got it assembled… I didn’t know what to do with it.  I really didn’t have a place or a plan for it yet.

So it sat out on the back porch with me staring at it for months.

And then finally it came to me… a photo ladder and a possible place in the dining room.

So I went out and bought some ingredients I needed…

and then got to cookin’.

All I did next was (after measuring) predrilled a small hole in the branches and photo frames and then screwed in screw eyes.

I had originally planned to use S hooks to link the frame to the steps but because my steps had different heights… it didn’t work out.

So I used hemp string I bought at Walmart a few weeks back.  I actually like it better than the S hooks.

Next,  I painted my photo frames white and then picked out some black and white photos of our wedding and put them in.

I had some berries left over from my White Cradle Centerpiece (Click here)

and just stuck them on.

But wait… I’m not through.

I want your opinion!

My hubby and I cut some pieces of wood from some branches outside.  I had planned to glue them on the photo frame to make it look more rustic.  I used a white wash over them.

Christmas 2012

I didn’t go all out this year with Christmas decorating.

Just my mantel and my entry way and few unique projects.

Even though Christmas Day hasn’t even gotten here, this is my Christmas Décor 2012 recap post.

First, let’s start with the entry way…

Another Tender Tennessee Christmas Home Tour 2010…

Hello my friends!

This year I am

celebrating the magnificent birth of Jesus

Matthew 1:18-25

with a

TENDER TENNESSEE

CHRISTMAS!

After lots of coffee, sewing,

and hot glue gunnin’,

I finally got my

HANDMADE, COZY CABIN Christmas up!

So let’s take a home tour… shall we?

We will start with a short stroll through

the COLORFUL

entry way.

This is an old farm table I made into a bench.

An antique bell hangs from

the colorful swag.

Rusty sleigh bells anchor

the big, colorful round ornaments

on the tree.

And Now…

 

onto the dining room.

    

  

          

 

Next… the kitchen

and all it’s décor.

This is where the

COZY CABIN theme

really starts to kick in.

So… I have to STOP here and say that

all the plaid

you see in the photos are from ONE

cut up boys shirt I bought at Target

on Clearance for $3.50.

It went a long ways!

An old baker’s rack was used  behind my

lighted barn star.

Again… another old baker’s rack.

An antique oil can and bucket

are used to create a cozy cabin display

over the cabinets.

I used some tree cuttings and ornaments

tied with rafia and stapled them

to painted placemats on my

faux stone wall.

I moved my Lantern Stand

into the kitchen

and added a bow and a few bells at the top.

And finally… onto the living room…

 

let’s start with the

 mantel and fireplace.

 

For the wreath… I used an old hymn

printed on brown wrapping paper

along with pieces of fabric,

sticks and pine cones to adorn my wreath.

Then I added a barn star for a little “punch”.

I used some rusty metal ornaments

to adorn the edge of the mantel.

The mittens were cut from the

plaid shirt and hot glue gunned to felt

in order to make a cute cover

for my stocking holders.

An old ammunition crate

is used as a prop for

holding firewood and kindling…

even though I have a gas fireplace.

:)

Next to the fireplace,

I draped a Christmas quilt

over a bunk ladder I found at Goodwill

awhile back.

 

My shipping crate table

is used to display a

small Christmas vignette.

A nesting goose/duck on the armoire.

And finally…

 

the Christmas Tree.

I made most of the ornaments this year.

A Christmas ornament made from a sock.

There’s that plaid shirt again!

And hand sewn mittens…

big and small cover the tree.

Vintage icicle strands fill

the tree for a bit of old fashion goodness!

Well… that’s Christmas 2010.
